This course comprises three lessons and is designed to encourage coaches to reflect on their understanding of performance in soccer. Its ultimate goal is to enhance coaches' abilities to accurately assess performance, allowing them to provide targeted support to players.

At the end of the course, you will take away with you 

  • Knowledge of the PAM approach including its philosophy, models, and their practicality 
  • Awareness of the ways in which psychological factors affecting human performance
  • Ability to analyse a given situation and provide recommendations for player development using the PAM 4A framework.

Understanding the Psychological Aspect of Soccer Performance

This course is part of the Level 3 Activating High Performance in Soccer Coaching Programme, which consists of 6 modules. While it can be taken as a standalone CPD course for practicing coaches, we recommend completing the entire programme to attain a UK-regulated certification.

  • Performance Anatomy Model as a means to understand performance and factors affecting it.

  • PAM 4A Framework as a tool for addressing and responding to situations for problem solving and personal development
  • GRITT Framework as a tool for assessing mental and emotional attributes for developing well-rounded players 

  • MAPP Framework as tool for building psychological ability for optimal performance
