Welcome to Module 4 of the "Activating High-Performance in Soccer Coaching" programme. In this module, we travel deeper into the world of mental performance and explore the scientific foundation of concentration and focus. Discover the power of PAM GRITT, a holistic approach designed to help you understand and enhance your players' ability to maintain concentration in the most challenging moments.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Apply the scientific principles of neuroplasticity, cognitive processes, and their role in concentration and focus to optimise coaching practices.

  • Utilise the PAM GRITT framework to understand and enhance concentration and focus, adapting coaching methods to enhancing the mental resilience of players.

  • Recognise and evaluate personal coaching strengths and areas for improvement related to concentration and focus.

  • Implement targeted strategies and tools to help players maintain and improve their concentration during dynamic game situations.

  • Improve player performance by enhancing their concentration and focus, leading to consistency, adaptability, and mental resilience.

Enhancing Player's Concentration and Focus

This course is part of the Level 3 Activating High Performance in Soccer Coaching programme, which consists of 6 modules. Whilst it can be taken as a standalone CPD course for practicing coaches, we recommend completing the entire programme to attain a UK-regulated certificate.

Learning Objectives


In this module, you will 
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific principles underpinning concentration and focus, including neuroplasticity, cognitive processes, and their relevance to coaching.

  • Explore and internalise the PAM GRITT framework (Growth, Readiness, Intention, Tenacity, Trust) as a holistic approach to enhancing concentration and focus in soccer coaching.
  • Assess your coaching practices through self-assessment and recognise strengths and areas for improvement in relation to concentration and focus.

  • Acquire a toolkit of practical strategies and tools for immediate implementation in coaching sessions to enhance your players' concentration and focus
